Sarah Jones Decker is a visual storyteller based in the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. She is an award-winning photographer, published author, farmer, mama and occasional tintype alchemist in Marshall High Studios. She has her MFA in Photography from Savannah College of Art & Design and a BA in Print Journalism from Virginia Tech. Sarah taught analog and digital photography for fifteen years, officially leaving that path in 2020 to focus on writing. With over 30 years darkroom experience, she started working in wet plate collodion in 2024. Documenting her beloved town of Marshall following the devastating destruction of Hurricane Helene, she built a darkroom in the back of her car just four months after pouring her first plate.
